On the Mither Tap the hillfort stands on a commanding position on the most Easterly Tor of Bennachie Massif at a height of 518 metres above sea level.

The fort was probably built between 1000BC and 1000AD and was a stronghold occupied by Pictish Aristocrats. The Gadie being the burn at the back of Bennachie
